I was browsing for a new ebook for my Kindle and came across West of Here. It's one of those books that jumps from the past to present, so you have to pay attention. Of course it has Indians but that not the focus of the story. It's based in Washington state when Port Bonita is being established and the people who had the guts to settle in the wilderness. They had dreams and hopes for a new life then in the next chapter it tells about the lives of the next generations. In current times the city has fallen behind and how the families are coping. Still in the end the their hopes and dreams were rekindled. The author did a great job in weaving the people from the past to the present generations. This book was good for me because it wrapped all the things that I like together history, wilderness, genealogy and Indians. We really don't know or sometimes appreciate what past generations had to go through to get us where we are today. I wonder what my future generations will think ?
